LEED metrics include energy and water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, indoor air quality standards, and stewardship over natural resources.

Wellness resorts typically have high freshwater demands, but Zulal Wellness Resort has proactively reduced water consumption by 30% through smart irrigation and water-saving systems.

Various strategies have been implemented to minimize direct emissions through energy conservation, including systematically switching off unused electrical appliances. 

Progress is closely monitored through monthly Key Sustainability Performance Indicators (KSPI) data, with the aim of achieving energy savings of at least 2% compared to 2023 by the end of 2024 and increasing this figure to up to 5% by 2030.

Additionally, Zulal Wellness Resort is committed to minimising natural resource usage by incorporating sustainable practices, such as using recycled materials for 20% of products and sourcing 50% of wood products from FSC certified sources. Plastic is also being replaced with biodegradable alternatives throughout operations.

The resort's sustainability efforts extend to waste management and biodiversity conservation, with waste reduction strategies in place and a dedication to preserving natural habitats and biodiversity.

In their quest to promote work-life balance and employee well-being, Zulal Wellness Resort embarked on a journey of empowerment. Recognising the importance of physical activity, mental health, and rest, they fostered a workplace culture centred on self-care and vitality.

Once a year, over 200 employees rally together for a noble cause: the Blood Donation Drive, supporting those in need and helping to make a positive impact in the community.

Zulal Wellness Resort embraces a holistic approach to employee wellness. Physical activities are integrated into the workday, offering opportunities for movement and vitality. Healthy food options were readily available, empowering employees to make wholesome choices. 

The introduction of the Wellness Coach Mobile Application in 2023 marked a significant milestone in the resort’s wellness journey for its employees. 

This innovative tool provided resources for the Walking Challenge and mental health support, fostering a sense of community among employees. 

Each month, employees aimed for 100,000 steps, promoting regular movement and fostering the transformative power of small steps towards a healthier lifestyle. 

These initiatives formed the foundation of a workplace culture rooted in care and empowerment. 

By prioritising employee well-being, the organisation not only nurtured a healthier workforce but also spread positivity beyond its walls. It was a story of transformation, resilience, and hope—a testament to the profound impact of small actions on creating a brighter future for all.

Zulal Wellness Resort implemented various environmentally efficient strategies during design and construction. 

These include erosion control measures, pollution reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, materials selection, indoor environmental quality, and strategies to preserve natural hydrology, resulting in LEED Silver certification—a testament to its dedication to green building practices.

Efforts to reduce water usage by 40% through water-efficient fixtures and sewage treatment systems highlight Zulal Wellness Resort's commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the resort's utilisation of treated wastewater for irrigation underscores its dedication to biodiversity preservation.

Innovative initiatives such as chemical-free artificial seawater lagoons treated by ozone generators and UV lamps provide guests with a sustainable swimming experience, further enhancing the resort’s eco-friendly ethos.

Recognising the vital role of mangroves in coastal ecosystems, Zulal Wellness Resort has embarked on an ambitious project to plant 1,000 mangroves within its perimeter by the end of 2024. 

The journey began in 2023 with the initiation of a process to preserve existing mangroves by removing seaweed and ensuring their survival. Since then, over 500 mangroves have been planted, with plans to plant an additional 1,000 seedlings in 2024. 

To support the success of this project and future endeavours, the resort has collaborated with its owning company to establish a plant nursery, nurturing saplings until they reach a suitable height for planting in the ground.
