Amilla takes great pride in their diverse agricultural practices. In 2023, they provided over 600kg of herbs, 2500 eggs, 700kg of lettuce, 1 ton of fruit, 3.6 tons of vegetables, 30 thousand coconuts, and 24kg of microgreens to guests and staff.

By growing their own food, they minimize their carbon footprint, reduce packaging waste, and ensure a transparent and ethical supply chain.

They also create homemade products like coconut oil, kombucha, bath tub tea, spa oils, balms, soaps, ice cream, nutella, and yogurt using their harvest. Their coconut processing plant showcases their commitment to quality and purity, supporting local employment and decreasing the need for imported goods, thus reducing their environmental impact.

In addition to their agricultural efforts, Amilla supports sustainable fishing practices in collaboration with Maldives Resilient Reefs. Since December 2023, they have purchased 1.2 tons of sustainably caught reef fish, generating an extra $1.6k in profit for local fishermen.

Through their dedication to ethical agriculture, homemade production, and sustainable fishing, Amilla strives to reduce waste, uphold fair practices, and safeguard the planet for future generations.

The Amilla team actively monitors over 30 nesting sites on Amilla and the Biosphere Reserve, focusing on the white-tailed tropic bird.

By conducting weekly observations on chick growth, behaviour, vegetation surroundings, human disturbance levels, plastic presence, and nest height, they aim to understand and protect these vulnerable species by addressing the challenges faced by these birds amidst rapid island development.

Amilla's initiatives not only focus on monitoring but also on training rangers, engaging with uninhabited protected islands, and expanding their efforts through passionate volunteers.

By balancing development and conservation, they seek innovative solutions that support ecological and economic sustainability. Through collaborative efforts with local communities and guests, including bird walks to raise awareness of Maldives' biodiversity, they empower individuals to become environmental stewards.

Their impact extends beyond immediate actions by sharing data with the biosphere reserve and government, ensuring long-term sustainability.

By involving passionate volunteers in their cause, they aspire to expand conservation initiatives nationwide, safeguarding the habitat of the white-tailed tropic bird and preserving the biodiversity of the Maldives for future generations.
