In 2022, the Zighy Bay team deepened ties with Zighy Village and nearby schools in Dibba. 

They actively support the community by engaging with local schools, organizing workshops on environmental topics like zero waste and plastic-free living, and facilitating farm visits. 

The success of these efforts led to the recruitment of Maryam, a dynamic English teacher from Dibba. Her hands-on teaching style resonated with the girls, who eagerly participated in activities such as recycling candles and soap, making pickles, and repurposing old linens. 

This not only equipped the girls with valuable skills but also sparked positive change in their community as they shared their newfound knowledge with their families.

Zighy Bay's involvement extends to providing educational resources, funding infrastructure, and offering strategic support to enhance educational opportunities at Sakina Bent Al Hussein Girls School and Amru Bin Al-Aas Boys School. 

Through sponsoring programs that promote gender equality, they are dedicated to empowering women and improving their skill sets, ultimately paving the way for brighter future prospects.

Sustainability is at the core of Six Senses Zighy Bay, encompassing environmental stewardship, community empowerment, and cultural preservation in Oman. 

Their collaborative efforts engage hosts, villagers, guests, and local authorities in creating positive change. With a focus on Plastic Free practices, Zero Waste Management, Energy Conservation, and Organic Farming, their strategies prioritize sustainability. 

Achievements like recycling 80% of organic and glass waste on-site, significant reductions in single-use plastics, and a 30% cut in energy consumption in 2022 showcase their dedication.

Through weekly cleanups, they have collectively volunteered over 1,000 hours to remove more than 2 tons of plastic waste from our shores. 

Maryam's (their recruited English school teacher) initiative of offering free educational classes to village children has been pivotal, bridging the gap between the team and the local community while fostering a significant shift in mindset. 

Seeing children's enthusiasm during their first beach cleanup transformed a routine task into a joyful and impactful experience.

The resort’s Earth Lab symbolises their unwavering commitment to a sustainable future. Through continuous education they are reshaping the future generation's approach to waste management positively.

In the heart of Dibba, Oman, the Dibba Women's Association was established by a group of determined women showcasing talents in handmade goods like spices, perfumes, and potteries. 

Their goal was to sustain their businesses and create a brighter future for their children. Six Senses Zighy Bay responded to a plea for financial aid not with a simple handout but by forming a partnership focused on empowerment. 

This partnership led to the creation of a new guest activity, "Sense of Oman, through a Woman's Eyes" where visitors could engage in local handcrafting activities guided by the talented women of the association, immersing themselves in Omani culture while directly supporting the cause. 

The collaboration not only provided financial support but also promoted independence and sustainability for the association.

By investing in the growth and self sufficiency of the Dibba Women Association, a positive ripple effect was initiated. Through the dedication and ingenuity of these local women in partnership with the resort, a sustainable playground was established, benefiting 137 children. 

This initiative exemplifies gender equality and empowerment, showcasing the transformative power of collaboration where support transcends mere transactions, evolving into a journey of shared experiences, mutual respect, and enduring impact.
